Core Studio is a recognised Vitality Health provider. On most plans you can book physiotherapy directly with us without a GP referral, although benefits depend on your outpatient allowance and excess. We invoice Vitality directly for eligible treatment in line with your cover.

Core Studio is a recognised WPA physiotherapy provider. Many WPA policies allow direct access to physiotherapy, though some require GP or specialist referral depending on your plan. Bring your membership and authorisation details so we can invoice WPA directly where eligible.

This depends on your individual policy excess and level of cover, so we always recommend checking your benefits before attending.

Physiotherapy after a road traffic accident or workplace injury

If you’ve been in a car accident, a workplace incident or have an open personal injury claim, your physiotherapy is usually covered by the at-fault insurer or your own legal protection cover. We work with personal injury solicitors and rehabilitation case managers for whiplash, soft-tissue injuries, post-orthopaedic rehab and complex post-trauma recovery.

If you have a case manager or solicitor, share their details when booking and we’ll liaise with them directly.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on your insurer and your specific plan. As a general guide: Aviva and Vitality Health usually allow you to book directly with a recognised physiotherapy provider; AXA Health typically require you to see your GP first and obtain a referral or pre-authorisation. We recommend phoning your insurer before your first appointment to confirm.

Session allowances vary widely between insurance providers and specific plans. Please check your policy or call your insurer with your membership number to confirm before treatment.

For most plans with Aviva, AXA Health, Vitality Health and WPA we can bill your insurer directly — you simply present your membership number and any pre-authorisation reference, and there’s nothing to pay on the day.

Most private medical insurance policies include an annual excess (typically £100 to £250) which you pay before your insurer starts covering treatment. If you have an excess that hasn’t been used in this policy year, you’ll pay this amount directly to us. Your insurer will tell you how much of your excess has been used when you call them for pre-authorisation.

Most insurers cover physiotherapy treatment but not standalone sports massage. However, soft-tissue and deep-tissue techniques are often delivered by a Chartered Physiotherapist as part of your physiotherapy treatment plan. If you specifically want sports massage and intend to claim, check with your insurer first.

In most personal injury cases following a road traffic accident, the cost of physiotherapy is covered by the at-fault driver’s motor insurer, your own legal expenses cover or through a rehabilitation case manager appointed under the Rehabilitation Code. If you have a solicitor or case manager, please share their details when booking and we’ll liaise with them directly.

All physiotherapists at Core Studio are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) — the requirements every major UK insurer imposes on recognised providers. Our HCPC registration can be verified on the HCPC online register.

Core Studio is located at 33 Bellingham Drive, Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 9SZ. The clinic is a 5-minute drive from the A1058 Coast Road and a 10-minute drive from Newcastle city centre. Parking is available outside the clinic and the Four Lane Ends/Palmersville Metro interchange is a short bus or taxi ride away.
